Vintage JAPANESE GINGER JAR Hand Painted Colored Slip Tracing Floral Designs
Gold Trim
A small ginger jar, hand decorated in Japan, complete with colored slip
tracing on its top as well as beautiful red and rose colored floral designs.
We have here an impressive piece of porcelain. This post-war Japanese ginger
jar is hand painted with striking floral patterns, and its top is hand done
with colored slip tracing in an ornate, gold trimmed pattern. We believe the
clay was fired with red, cobalt, and black iron oxide to produce a lasting
decoration that is wonderful to look at.
The bottom of the piece is marked 'Kireina Foreign.' This was a common makers
mark on pottery produced in Japan immediately after the second world war. The
The term is from the Japanese 'Kirie na' which means pretty. The use of the
term Foreign was generally used following WWII in order not to identify the
country of origin.
This ginger jar is small measuring 4 1/4 inches tall and having a base of 2
inches. The item weighs 6.5 ounces.
This ginger jar is in very good condition, has vibrant colors and has no
cracks, chips, or crazing that we can find.
This ginger jar would make a great addition to any Japanese-inspired decor.
