Antique Martaban Jar
Description and Item Information
Up for sale is this large, old, Asian pottery storage jar. Please excuse any glare in the photos. This rustic pot has a dark brown glaze. It is approximately 14 1/2 inches tall and it has a maximum width of about 14 inches. Unpacked, it weighs 10 pounds 6.4 ounces. This pot has an ovoid shape with a short neck. It would be a good addition to a collection of Asian antiques.
Identification
This unmarked pot is antique, but the exact age is not known. The exact origin is not known, but it is likely Chinese or Southeast Asian.
Condition
This pot displays nicely, even though it is not in perfect condition. There is a long crack which curves around the pot; there are some finer, shorter hairline cracks also. There are some chips and flakes. As made, there are thin glaze areas, indents, raised bits and specks, and larger clay pieces fused to the exterior. The base has glaze wear and scratches. There is evidence of wear and some scratches and scuffs elsewhere. An unknown type of flaw is shown in Photo 6; I do not know if this is an area without glaze or if it is a filled area. Please review the description and photos, and ask any necessary questions prior to bidding or buying.
Terms of Sale
1. Payments
Taxes may be applicable. The correct shipping address must be included with payment. Contact the seller before bidding or buying to find out about acceptable payment methods for local pickups or deliveries. Payments must be received within three days of the end of the listing, unless prior arrangements have been made.
2. Shipping
Good packaging is included; double-boxing is not necessarily included. Framed art will not be shipped unframed. The seller usually ships on Mondays and Thursdays. The merchandise will normally be shipped on the seller's next shipping day after payment clears. The seller is not responsible for the transit time once the merchandise has been accepted by the shipping carrier.
Shipping includes delivery to a physical address via a method of the seller's choice. If the buyer prefers a different shipping method other than that chosen by the seller, or if delivery is to a post office box, additional shipping costs may be required. At the seller's discretion, a signature may be required for delivery.
Shipping quotes must be requested prior to all international bidding or buying. For international shipping, there may be parcel size restrictions or prohibitions on certain classes of merchandise. Customs forms will not be falsified.
International buyers, please note: Import duties, taxes and charges are not included in the item price or shipping charges. These charges are the buyer's responsibility. Please check with your country's customs office to determine what these additional costs will be prior to bidding or buying. These charges are normally collected by the delivering freight (shipping) company or when the item is picked up; do not confuse them for additional shipping charges. The seller does not mark merchandise values below value or mark items as gifts. U.S. and international government regulations prohibit such behavior.
