Title:
Antique Gingerbread Fretwork
Description:
Presented for your consideration is this beautiful piece of antique
gingerbread fretwork. The fretwork was made to be used as a decorative piece
that hanged at the top of a doorway in Victorian homes. The fretwork is made
entirely of wood with a square outer frame. Inside of the fretwork bares 2
different patterns with matching patterns at the ends and a different pattern
in the middle. At the ends is a stick and ball criss-cross pattern inside of a
square. Between the squares are several straight spindles with one or more
balls on each spindle. The balls are in different locations on the spindles
giving the midsection a drape-like design. The fretwork is solid and in usable
condition. Original finish is still intact. The fretwork displays gorgeous
craftsmanship and would make a wonderful addition to any Victorian home! A nice
piece to add to any architectural collection!
There is a small spot of separation in the middle of the bottom trim but could
easily be corrected. A small chip is out of the wood on one side edge and the
opposite side edge has a surface chip at the bottom corner. No chips, cracks or
breaks in the design work. Typical light wear from age and use. Overall in VERY
GOOD-EXCELLENT condition for its age. Please refer to the photos for the
absolute best details.
Measures 70 3/4" wide, 15 1/2" long and 3 1/4" deep.
