A wonderful piece of Architectural Folk Art. This is a very intricate lattice
work piece with layers of old paint. We can't quite determine if it was a gate
or window shutter of some kind. The back has a small handle at the bottom which
appears to be original. The wood work is very unique, a basket weave pattern
with carvings in the center and top. Found in Virginia the gate is from the
late 1800's to early 1900's, solid wood.
The piece is 36 1/4" wide x 43 5/8" tall and 1 1/4" thick. There is a later
attached wire hanger on the back side for display.
