This is a drawer from a 150 year old Japanese tansu complete with hand forged
lock and key as well as hand forged drawer pull with back plate. All hand
forged iron including all nails hand forged. Comes with operable key. It has
all of its original patina including burnt lacquer protective finish. It is
still fully operable using the included key.
Along with an aged patina, this tansu drawer face in cryptomeria wood is a
nice example of forged iron work from the early Meiji era. It measure 8 1/4"
square (21 cm). The lock measures 3 1/2" wide by 3 1/2" tall (9 cm).
