This listing is for the 63 1/2”wide antique church bench pictured. The listing
price is for local pickup; if shipping is needed, see the details regarding
shipping given later in this listing. The bench was assembled from a pew that
came from the St Johns United Methodist Church in the Queens district of New
York City. The church was established in 1906 as a Lutheran Church where many
of the large German immigrant population who lived in the area could meet for
worship After a number of years, the building was sold to the Methodist
denomination. The church was closed down and the building was sold to a
developer and is is scheduled for demolition. As mentioned, the bench is made
of quarter sawn oak. The seat back is 34” high and the pew will extend out from
the wall 22”. The seat depth is 15" and is the seat height is 17" from the
floor. It is very sturdy and will serve its new owner well. I have 2 similar
benches; one is 60 1/2” wide and the other is 63” wide. They are also priced
300.
I took a picture of the church when I picked up the pews and will include a
copy of that picture as well as a picture of the sanctuary interior with the
pews in place.
